How did the story of Golden Billy Button come about?

Research on my family tree began by my grandmother, and to be honest, most of my family have dabbled! Telling and retelling stories of my ancestors was a treat!

My second great grandfather's life intrigued me. Born in 1840, named William Cock, he was a child tin miner in Cornwall working the bal with his Grandfather .  They struggled to survive in a harsh environment through famines and poverty on Bodmin Moor, opposite Jamaica Inn, however they stayed true to their strong Cornish ethics as Methodists.

Once the details of William's life surfaced, it became a passion for me to tell his story in a historic novel and through thick and thin, the book will be published shortly.
